Attention span: 8/10 You could play it for a long time. Plus its small size will keep it on your TI-86 for awhile.
Controls: 10/10 left-right, that’s all you need.
Implementation: 9/10 Very similar to Thomas Fernique’s original version for the TI-92.
Overall: 9/10 A really cool game, and also really small.

Falldown 1.31 is a game by Florent Dhordain and Ahmed El-Helw, and ported from the TI-83 to the TI-86 by Aaron Curtis. It is based on a Fargo game for the TI-92 by Thomas Fernique.

The goal of this game is relatively simple: live as long as possible. You are a ball, and the ground beneath you is rapidly moving toward the top of the screen. There are holes in it, and you must get to one of these holes before you hit the top of the screen. The game has no ending; you play until you die. Once you hit the top of the screen, your score is given. If your score is greater than the current high score, then the new one is saved.

Unlike version 1.2 (or maybe 1.1), this version has excellent speed control. The speed doesn't vary depending on keypresses, and on the opening screen, you get to choose between 5 different difficulty levels. In addition, the authors added a high score feature, increasing the attention span level greatly.

Given that the screen resolution is much worse for the TI-86, the mediocre graphics can be forgiven. There's only one complaint I can come up with for this version: the game ends when the very top of the ball is off screen. Part of the fun of the game is going to the last second, and you should be able to play until the ball has completely disappeared off the top of the screen.

This version of Falldown is basically complete. In the next upgrade, basically all that's left to add is a title screen. If you enjoy fast-paced games like ZKart and Nibbles, then this would definitely be a good choice. And at 1043 bytes, there’s really no reason to delete this.
