When I come around and give a try to arcade games (or more often arcade-feeling indie games), I usually think "hm, it would do good on calcs". I see I'm not the only one, and VVVVVV does the job really well.

So for those who don't know VVVVVV, it's basically a platformer game where you are a spaceship crew member searching for his fellows after an accident happened on-board. Obviously, since the calculator clone is not finished, there's no backstory (yet ?).

Gameplay : 9/10 - very much like the original game, with the same little annoying fact that fast-changing screens can make people dizzy.

Durability : 10/10 - I can't get enough of wandering around the huge map, trying to get past all the obstacles. Moreover, the map editor (made by me :P) lets you create your own world to play with.

Ease of use : 8/10 - in my opinion, the difficulty is a bit overkill sometimes - but that obviously adds to the game. The controls are intuitive, and that's a good thing when you need to react fast.

Graphics : 10/10 - seemingly simple, actually complicated, either way efficient.

Overall : 37/40 - great game and although it's still unfinished, be sure to get your copy and give it a try if you dare. The fact that it's still a work-in-progress can only announce an even better game.

The game is very well developed considering its still not done. The map provided is very short, but custom maps can be made and loaded. I would like to see a larger map if its not already being made. The program is easy to get running from a shell, and the menu looks good. I'm glad to see someone port this game, especially when I just found VVVVVV in steam and started playing it. I recommend this game to all who love VVVVVV for pc and want to take it with you. I do recommend trying to find custom maps, which may be hard for the moment given how new this program is. Overall it deserves a 10/10, it is very well written based on its stage in development, and its only flaw for now is the default level size. If you can find a good custom map then this would be a full game. I would also like to see someone port the exact levels from the PC game onto the calculator version once enemies are created.

I just downloaded the demo of the actual VVVVVV on my computer, and this actually does look like the actual game!

Gameplay: 9/10

This stays true to the original VVVVVV, but for some reason, I hit the spikes even when I didn't actually fall into them, I just stood on the edge of a platform when they were next to it.

Controls: 9/10

The controls are nice and easy to learn, but it would be nice if the author could, like the original, make up and down flip the character, too.

Graphics: 10/10

Good as a calculator can get.

Level Design: 8/10

Not all of the "levels" are implemented, just a few. But the levels that are implemented, they play just like the original (well, with a few changes).

Replay Value: ??/??

I didn't finish it yet. But the game is very challenging, and I would definitely like to play it again. I don't know how to rank this part.

Features: 7/10

Gameplay is the same as the original, but it would be nice to incorporate the actual names of the "levels" like Barani Barani, In a Single Bound, Conundrum, etc. Also, there should be a storyline, like the original. Or maybe a level editor. I don't know, they would be nice to include.

I shouldn't be so hard on you for that, this IS a demo. ;-)

Overall: 43/50

This is a good game, a must-download for fans of classic games.
