Timerize is great. I did not think any time program could ever be this good. It has everything from a stopwatch to a function that tells when you will die. I thought that was cool. The only bad thing about this is that it is a humongous memory hogger; and the variables it uses are everywhere, creating a mess. But this program is still awesome. Just try it out.
Controls: 9/10 you get used to it
Memory: 6/10 way too big
Usage: 10/10 really awesome

"Timerize 2.6", featured at ticalc.org, is among the first TI-BASIC programs to take advantage of the new time capabilities built into every TI-84 series graphing calculator. As any good time program should, it has a variety of handy ways to look at what time it is, including a usable analog clock, complete with three hands and the date, as well as a nifty binary clock.
A major part of "Timerize v2.6" is a variety of conversion tools. Among these are options to convert any unit of time (seconds, minutes, days) into others.
A pair of programs that count up from 0 as a stopwatch and count down as in a timer are fairly useful, but drain your batteries if left going for too long. Also, they are accurate only to the second, not fractions of seconds.
This program is relatively strong and small in size for what it offers, and I feel the programming group put some excellent effort into it. Aside from some aesthetic concerns and the limited conversion features, I would call this a well-done innovative program.

I was blown out of the water after downloading this new version of "Timerize" to my new TI-84 Plus.
This version actually looks decent and consistent compared to the pre-2.6 versions. The menu bar in both the analog and digital clocks makes access to important functions easier. The digital clock display now has more info as it has moved to the graph screen. It includes fixes to a lot of the stuff I mailed them about, so they must actually care. For a preview release, it's a wonderful program and a must-download for all 84 owners; if you have any other calculator, don't download it; I tried it and it won't work.
The analog clock screen could use some work. I am amazed that it works in the first place and is so original, but the numbers don't really line up and they could include more else to display other than the clock and the date. They also need to move the number '6' so that it doesn't touch anything, but I am just nit-picking now.
I am, alas, dismayed. I was hoping for the new binary clock to be included. I have been reminded this was only a preview release by friends of mine, so I will -as it says above- come back in December to watch for a new release. Excellent job. Everyone loves it!

Timerize has to be one of the best programs I have ever downloaded. Even though its BASIC, its functionality and originality is something you could NEVER do in ASM. The fact that it is the best time program for TI calculators is not arguable. I especially loved the analog clock. I am amazed at the complexity and precision of it and how well it performs for a non-ASM program.
I found some minor bugs and have sent off an email, but they said that their next release, 2.3, has fixed those errors and will be launched soon. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone that has a TI-84.

A lot of discussion in the news last month showed that people didnt see the importance of a clock function on the TI-84. Timerize, however, will open your eyes and show the possibilities of the clock function, which is why it is of great importance to all 84 programmers. It will give other programmers new ideas of applying clock functions to their own programs.
The authors made it in Basic and showed that if you look at the new user guide and use your imagination, youll be able to make a real special first post. Just look at this program and see whats possible. Date and date format, time and time format are only the basics, but Timerize cleverly used these options. They made a timer (counting down) and a stopwatch (counting up). The date can be used in organizers, astronomic, and financial programs, but if time functions like timer and stopwatch are implement into games, CBL, CBR, etc., I think that it will give a new dimension to some peoples old programs.
So, besides the beautiful way of Timerize uses Basic programming, it can also be used as a springboard into creating new programs. |
