In my opinion, Calcwars is one of the best games for the 68k series. If you have played the first two Advance Wars games for Game Boy Advance, then you will simply love this game. Even if you have not played Advance Wars or Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, then this is still a very easy game to learn.
Graphics: 10/10 When I saw the screenshots, I didn't give a second thought about downloading this. Controls: 9/10 The controls are very easy Gameplay: 9/10 Replay value: 10/10 I play it every day at school Overall: 10/10 |

Overall rating: 7/10
Calcwars is a nice game with good graphics and gameplay, but it could be improved in some areas. It needs a single player mode with AI, and for two player, it needs to use a link code instead of just passing the calculator back and forth. The game has a good variety of options, many different maps, a lot of tanks and such. It runs quickly, and though it isnt the prettiest looking game, overall it masters what matters most in a game: gameplay. |

CalcWars is a very good port of the Game Boy Advance game, Advance Wars.
There are nine different units, each with strengths and weaknesses. There are also different maps and terrain types. Though it takes a while to play a game, it is very fun to play with your friends. The graphics are amazing and the controls are very simple. In version .40, the only things different from this and the GBA version is that there are no Air and Sea units, AI and, a few other things, like Commanding Officers.
Overall, a very fun game that takes a lot of strategy. It also doesn't take up too much space. Graphics: 10/10 (Very Good) Gameplay: 9/10 Controls: 10/10 (Very easy) Replay Value: 9/10 OVERALL: 10/10 |

For anyone who has played the Game Boy Advance games Advance Wars or Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, this game is an amazing port of the Game Boy's best turn-based strategy game.
For those not familiar with Advance Wars, this is a strategy game where the object is to destroy your opponent's troops or capture your enemy's headquarters. Although there are only a few types of units, there is an amazing amount of strategy hidden in the cities, mountains, and roads of the Advance Wars maps.
As of the time this report was written, this game has not been finished. The biggest things missing are transportation, CO powers, 1 player mode, and a map editor. These are things I would love to see if this project ever finishes.
The Game Boy color graphics have been ported extremely well. The only annoying graphic issue is that you often can't tell which cities belong to player 1 or 2.
Overall, this game is certainly worth a download, especially if friends bug you to play on your calculator. |
