Attention span: 6/10 Frustating level advancement. Controls: 8/10 No pause between levels. Implementation: 7/10 PacMan or BoulderDash are better Overall: 6/10 Look elsewhere.
Dasher 86 is a game where the player must collect all the gems on a level before the time runs out. With that said, I would like to point out that this game can be frustrating at times. For challenge, the time runs out too quickly for my taste. There is a strategy for completing each level, and as you progress, you will certainly know these strategies since when the timer reaches zero, you are to start at level first level. The graphics are normal, but the instructions say to collect the gems, and when you begin to play the game, it is hard to tell which are the gems. But that will not be a problem. Soon after you start playing, you will find out for yourself that anything on the screen that seems round is a gem. Getting past the first level is a challenge until you find a pattern to follow., and the second level is harder, and the difficulties increase. This game sort of relates to PacMan or BoulderDash, in the sense that you must run around quickly collection objects. The controls are basically the same to any other game for a calculator. One thing that bothered me and will most likely bother others is that there is no break between levels, and the player is not asked to press any key to continue. This could waste precious seconds to a person that is unaware of this. Another thing that bothered me even more is that there is pause feature in the game. This means that the player will have no breaks to rest between levels until he runs out of time and decides to quit.
In short, I cannot recommend this game to anyone that gets frustrated easily, or is usually dependent on the usage of a pause feature for one reason or the other. As for this games originality, it is nothing that hasn't been done better elsewhere. There are parts in this game that are original, but other factors make this game unappealing. |
