Suitability: 8/10 Great if you use tested programs.
Ease-Of-Use: 9/10 Left, right, enter; not too hard.
Overall: 9/10 Make sure to test programs first.

TI-82 emulation....TI-85....and now, TI-83 emulation!? Yes folks, the 86 community (including myself) are probably quite pleased with Ion86, a program brought to us by Clem Vasseur at Icarus Productions (and Matthew Shepcar, maker of the conversion program, and the 83 emulation core of Rascall [that should take care of the credits]).

Now, since I'm reviewing this, I decided to test a few programs with it. Here are my tests (using VTI ROM 1.6, I didn't really want to chance my memory due to past instances with 82 emulation :P)-

Blockdude - worked nicely.
Uncle Worm - unsupported rom call at 4122h.
Lotus Turbo Challenge - works alright, a little slower than normal.
Mars Patrol - completely screws up the ti OS. The normal cursor became the cursor you see when you select a compiled assembly program with the BASIC editor, wouldn't even allow me to turn off the calculator!
Spacewar - worked very well.

As you can see, not all programs work, but some do. I have a few problems with the emulation though. When playing Spacewar, I couldn't tell where the edge of the screen was. When emulating the 83, the screen is made to be set on the left side of the 86's screen. If the screen was centered and had something to tell me where the edge of the screen was, it'd be a little nicer for me. This is merely an early version though, so this may change.

In conclusion, this is a pretty good program to have on your calculator, but make sure you test programs on an emulator before you chance them on your calculator.
