Suitability: 7/10 Use if you like the comp OS feel. Ease-Of-Use: 8/10 Point, click, cut, paste, etc. Overall: 8/10 Nice shell, not useful though. Usually when something very graphical and complex comes out, the first question that comes to mind is "how many bugs are there?". That's exactly what my sentiments were towards Tinux - until I actually used it.
Amazingly, I came by no bugs whatsoever using Tinux (your results may vary). The shell managed to run all the programs I asked it to.
For those who don't know what Tinux is, it is a GUI (graphical user interface; pronounced "gooey") that allows you to organize your programs in different folders. In this case, its different directories instead of different folders. It has a feel like certain PC OS's that will not be mentioned. It has many different configurations to it (you can change mouse speed/smooth scrolling/et cetera). It was first in french until someone was kind enough to translate it.
Is it useful though? Not really. Infact, it is kind of a hinder to efficiency. I could easily run a program with the good ol' asm( command faster than it would take me to organize and search for the file's name. It is more of an eye candy deal.
It is nice to look at, as this is a very nicely made program, which probably caused the author(s?) to have a brain anuerysm or two. But don't get it if you're already used to ASE, YAS, Rascall, etc. I forgot to mention that it is very large, too. And lets not forget that 86er's should be used to emulation by now *prideful grin*, and this has only a lack of. |
